Integration Spotlight: Google & Stamped

Google Seller and Product Ratings are the primary vehicle for eCommerce business owners to add social proof to their Google Ads and listings in Google Shopping. With Stamped’s newly launched Google Seller and Product Ratings integration, Stamped customers can include their Stamped product reviews and Net Promoter Scores in their Google ads.

This blog is a quick overview of Google Seller and Product Ratings, including what they are, why they're important, and how you can use Stamped's integration to expand your visibility and increase trust.

Google Seller Ratings

Google Seller Ratings are an automated extension type that showcase advertisers with high ratings. They list your product rating below your text ads, helping people find businesses that offer quality services. Merchants can use Seller Ratings to improve ad performance and find more qualified leads, ultimately impacting the click-though-rate (CTR) of your ads and improving ROI.

What Do Seller Ratings Look Like?

When it's displayed in a search ad or shopping listing, your seller rating always consists of at least two factors:

    • Your total average star rating (out of 5)

    • The number of reviews you've received

These quantitative metrics are sometimes paired with qualitative descriptions that help explain why your store earned the rating that it did. These descriptions are aggregated and pulled from reviews and can be anything from "good customer service" to "fast delivery."

How Are Seller Ratings Calculated?

Google Seller Ratings are calculated from ratings across Google properties, including normal shopping ratings from the course of your business on Google, as well as a program that Google operates on behalf of sellers called Google Customer Reviews. In addition, Google sources ratings from a host of third-party review sites, listed here

Google Product Ratings

Google Product Ratings are similar to seller ratings, except they focus on individual products rather than your brand as a whole. Whereas seller ratings are used to enhance your paid ads, product ratings appear in your listings and in search results on the Google Shopping platform.

What Do Product Ratings Look Like?

When it's displayed under an image of a product, your product rating always consists of two factors:

    • Your total average star rating (out of 5)

    • The number of reviews you've received

How Are Product Ratings Calculated?

Google Product Ratings are compiled using the same tools as Google Seller Ratings.

Why Are Google Product and Seller Ratings Important?

Google's vast presence lends it limitless credibility among consumers. For example, adding the Google Seller Ratings extension to a Google Ads campaign can increase the CTR by an average of 10%.

With an overwhelming amount of product and brand options available, customers are seeking validation for purchasing new products like never before. With 48% beginning their shopping journey from a search engine, it’s critical for sellers to optimize their virtual storefronts.

Think of it like window shopping — a well-dressed display window is significantly more likely to draw potential customers into the store to make a purchase, and it will stand out against other shops that sell similar products.
