What are Plays?

Introduction

Since Repeat was acquired by Stamped in 2024, we've been hard at work to unify the two platforms and create an unmatched retention machine for our merchants. Part of that process included sharing ideas and terminologies between the different platforms.

Repeat introduced us to the concept of Moments and Plays: Moments are high-leverage lifecycle opportunities for influencing customer behavior, and Plays are strategies for engaging customers within those Moments. In other words, they’re data and flows that work together to help you achieve your retention goals, whether that’s boosting repurchase rate, driving more revenue, or creating personalized post-purchase journeys.

Plays fall into two categories:

  • Flows: Use Stamped events to send customers personalized emails, SMS, or even direct mail.
  • Reusable Blocks: Make it easy to add Repeat-powered content, like banners or product predictions, to any email you send.

As Repeat continues to develop more game-changing Plays, we've also started to build our first-ever Reviews and Loyalty Plays. Let's take a look at some of the Plays you can add to your arsenal, whether you're using Reviews, Loyalty, or Repeat:

Review Plays

Positive Review Thank You Flow

This Play allows you to thank customers who have left positive reviews and encourage their next purchase. When a customer takes time to share their thoughts, you should respond to demonstrate that you value their opinions and are committed to improving their experience. Satisfied customers are more likely to return, leading to higher repurchase rates and potential referrals.

You can also add a Negative Review Response, with messaging designed to prevent disgruntled customers from lapsing. Demonstrating that you’re taking their concerns seriously may convince them to give your brand another chance.

Loyalty Plays

Loyalty Points Block

This Play allows merchants to display points balances in any email they send via Klaviyo. It's one of the best ways to market your loyalty program in-channel. By reminding customers about their points, they are far more likely to use them. As we wrote about in a recent post, if a customer isn't aware of the fact that they have points to redeem, you can't expect it to influence their behavior. Loyalty programs shouldn't just live on your website—they need to be in your customers' inboxes, too.

Intro to Loyalty Program

This Play allows you to welcome customers to your loyalty program and call out its benefits. This email can nurture long-term loyalty by explaining how customers can:

  • Earn and redeem points
  • Access exclusive offers
  • Use the program’s online portal or app

Points Balance Reminder

Like a winback for loyalty, this Play reminds customers that they have points if they haven’t made a recent purchase. Many customers forget that they have points to redeem, but once reminded of a discount or reward, they’re far more likely to make another purchase.

Points Expiring Soon

Create urgency with this Play by reminding customers their points are about to expire. Expiration notices encourage quick action and boost conversions. Without this notification, customers may miss their chance to use their points.

Replenishment Plays

Replenishment Reminder Banner: Works alongside other marketing emails by providing customers a link back to products they’ve previously ordered. It boosts clickthrough rates and ensures customers never run out of your product.

Replenishment Reminder Email: Use email and SMS to remind customers to restock their supplies, ensuring seamless replenishment.

Late Replenishment Reminder Email: This Play targets light users, encouraging them to restock before running out. It’s ideal for reaching customers when they’re ready to return.

Cross-sell Plays

Cross-sell Predicted Products Flow: Use Repeat’s Primed for Cross-sell trigger to kick off personalized flows. The trigger’s timing is based on a customer’s purchase history and data from similar customers.

Suggest Predicted Products Anywhere: Create reusable blocks showcasing products your customers are most likely to love, which can be added to any Klaviyo campaign or flow.

Subscription Upsell Plays

Grow Subscribers With Simple Content Blocks: Use personalized cart links with CTAs in existing messaging to direct customers to a high-converting subscription checkout.

Add Subscription Product Suggestions to Any Email: Repeat identifies customers ready to subscribe and highlights products they’re likely to commit to. Use the "Subscription Opportunity Products" profile property to add these suggestions to any campaign or flow.

Lapse Prevention Flow: Target at-risk customers with aggressive offers without eroding margins. Repeat’s About To Lapse trigger ensures perfect timing, increasing the chances of re-engagement.
